المدخل ليس مساحة ضائعةThe entrance is not wasted space

كثير من البيوت تصرف على المجلس والصالة وتترك المدخل جداراً أبيض ومصباحاً في السقف. مع أن المدخل هو الانطباع الأول عن البيت كله، وهو المكان الذي تخلع فيه حذاءك وتضع مفاتيحك وتعلّق عبايتك كل يوم. المدخل الجيد يؤدي الوظيفتين: يستقبل الضيف بشكل لائق، ويرتّب دخولك وخروجك.Many homes spend on the majlis and the living room and leave the entrance as a white wall and a ceiling lamp. Yet the entrance is the first impression of the whole house, and the place where you take off your shoes, put down your keys and hang your abaya every day. A good entrance does both jobs: it receives a guest properly and organises your coming and going.

عناصر ديكور المدخلThe elements of an entrance

• الكونسول والمرآة: قطعة مفصّلة على عرض الجدار مع مرآة تكبّر المكان وتعكس الضوء.Console and mirror: a piece made to the width of the wall, with a mirror that enlarges the space and reflects light.
• تلبيس الجدار: خشب أو بديل رخام أو ألواح مضلّعة تعطي الجدار عمقاً — التفاصيل في تلبيس الجدران.Wall cladding: timber, stone-look panels or fluted boards that give the wall depth — more under wall cladding.
• السقف والإضاءة: جبس بورد بإضاءة مخفية تمتد مع الممر وتقوده.Ceiling and lighting: gypsum board with concealed lighting that runs along and leads the corridor.
• خزانة المدخل: تخزين مغلق للأحذية والعبايات والشنط، بمقعد للجلوس عند لبس الحذاء.The entrance cupboard: closed storage for shoes, abayas and bags, with a seat for putting shoes on.
• الباب: باب داخلي بلون وإطار ينسجمان مع التلبيس.The door: an internal door whose colour and frame sit with the cladding.

مدخل الشقة ومدخل الفيلاAn apartment entrance versus a villa entrance

مدخل الشقة غالباً ضيق ويفتح مباشرة على الصالة. هنا نعتمد على الحلول النحيفة: كونسول معلّق قليل العمق، مرآة بطول الجدار، وخزانة أحذية لا تبرز. وإذا كان الباب يكشف الصالة ننفّذ فاصلاً خشبياً خفيفاً يعطي خصوصية دون أن يحجب الضوء.An apartment entrance is usually narrow and opens straight onto the living room. Here we rely on slim solutions: a shallow wall-hung console, a full-height mirror and a shoe cupboard that does not protrude. Where the door exposes the living room, we build a light timber screen that gives privacy without blocking the light.

مدخل الفيلا أوسع وأعلى، وغالباً يتصل بالدرج. هنا المجال أكبر: جدار رئيسي بتلبيس كامل، إضاءة معلّقة، وربط بصري بين المدخل والدرج والممر المؤدي إلى المجلس.A villa entrance is wider and taller and often connects to the staircase. There is more scope here: a feature wall clad in full, pendant lighting, and a visual link between the entrance, the stairs and the corridor leading to the majlis.

الممراتCorridors

الممر الطويل يبدو أضيق وأظلم مما هو. نعالجه بثلاث أدوات: إضاءة جانبية أو مخفية بدل مصباح واحد في الوسط، تلبيس أو لون على جدار واحد فقط حتى لا يضيق، وفواصل بصرية — أرفف أو لوحات أو تجويف مضاء — تكسر طول الممر.A long corridor looks narrower and darker than it is. We treat it with three tools: side or concealed lighting instead of a single central lamp, cladding or colour on one wall only so it does not close in, and visual breaks — shelves, artwork or a lit niche — that interrupt the length.
